How to Register/Modify/Delete Translation Dictionary

Translation Dictionary is to be referred to by ONYAKU's translation engine to help it smoothly translate comments made by participants in a chat room.

• What’s Translation Dictionary?

• Available only in Japanese⇔English.
• Only an Administrator account holder can register terms to the dictionary.
  Up to 2000 terms can be registered per category. Up to50 different categories can be set up.
• Registered terms are shared among all users - setting is required for each meeting session in a chat room.
• Settings must be done by a chat room owner.
  （General users are not authorized to do this setting)
• One glossary can be applied for one chat room and for one translation direction.
  If the meeting is conducted in Japanese and in English, you can apply one glossary for each direction (two in total: JP→EN/EN→JP).
  
  

• Differences between Translation Dictionary and Phrase List
  
  　 Translation Dictionary：Enhance the translation accuracy when translating text converted from speech.
     Phrase List：Improve the accuracy of converting speech to text.　　

• Register Translation Dictionary

◆Type in and register one term at a time on the screens

1. Log in to ONYAKU and click [Dictionary].
   
   
   
2. Click [Translation Dictionary]
   
   
   
3. Select the category for which the terms should be registered.
   You can [create a new category] for the terms to be registered as needed.
   Choose an existing category as needed.
   
   
   

   ▼ How to create a new category

   1. Click [Create a new category] in the drop-down list.
      
      
      
   2. Type in [Language] and [Category], and then click [Register].
      
      
      
   3. When the operation is completed, [Success] message will pop up.
      
   
   
   
4. Type in the terms and those corresponding in the target language, and then click [Register].
   
   
   
5. When the operation is completed, [Success] message will pop up.
   
   
   

◆ Use CSV file for batch registration

1. Create a term list using Microsoft Office's Excel - use Columns A and B.
   Type in [sourceText] in Line 1 of Column A and [targetText] in Line 1 of Column B.
   Type in terms subject to registration from Line 2 onwards - use Column A for terms in source text and B for those in target text.
   
   
   
2. Choose [CSV UTF-8 (*.csv)] format in [Save as] window and save the file.
   
   
   
3. Log in to ONYAKU and click [Translation Dictionary].
   
   
   
4. Click [Register in batch], and then select the file prepared in 1 and 2.
   
   
   
   
5. Select the category for which the terms should be registered.
   You can [Create a new category] for the terms to be registered as needed.
   If you select an existing category and upload the file, the existing data will be overwritten rather than added. (To add new data to the existing data, type in the terms to be registered this time in the CSV file that contains the old data, and register that file.)
   
   
   
6. When the operation is completed, [Success] message will pop up.
   
   
   

• Modify registered terms

1. From the list of registered terms, click "" for the term you wish to correct.
   
   
   
2. Correct the content and click "Register".
   
3. When the "Success" pop-up is displayed, the correction is complete.
   

• Delete registered terms

1. From the list of registered terms, click "" for the term you wish to delete.
   
2. Click "Delete" in the confirmation pop-up to complete the deletion.
   

• View/Download registered translation dictionaries

1. Select from the dropdowns such as "Category" or language direction to view any translation dictionary (terms).
   
   
   
2. Click "Download this translation dictionary" to download the list of translation dictionaries (terms) displayed at that moment.
   

• Apply translation dictionaries to chat rooms

1. Create a chat room.
   
   
2. Click [] in the upper left corner of the window to open the menu.
   
   
   
3. Scroll down and check the translation dictionary (category) you wish to apply from the list of registered "translation dictionaries" to complete the application.
   
   
   

   • Only the room owner can apply settings to the chat room.
     (General users participating in the chat room cannot apply settings at will)

   • In one chat room, only one translation dictionary (category) per language direction can be applied.
     It is possible to apply a maximum of two glossaries, one for English to Japanese and one for Japanese to English, respectively.
